100M SFP optical modules are small form-factor pluggable (SFP) transceiver modules based on the SFP Multi-Source Agreement (MSA). Working in conjunction with optical fibers, these modules provide a complete bidirectional data link connection for data communications, enabling high-speed, transparent forwarding of data information. These modules comply with the 100M Ethernet standard specified in the IEEE 802.3 standard and are fully capable of meeting the needs of SDH STM-1, SONET OC-3 SR1, Fast Ethernet, and other 100M fiber-optic networks.
They are extremely versatile and support many SFP-type interface devices, including Ethernet, switches, routers, and other network equipment.
SFP supports 10/1000Mbps Ethernet speeds, while SFP+ is an upgraded version that supports higher speeds up to 10Gbps. This is the main difference between SFP and SFP+. Due to the different data rates, applications and transmission distances also differ. SFP+ generally has a longer transmission distance. The SFP+ specification is based on SFF-8431. Regarding SFP vs. SFP+ compatibility, SFP+ ports generally accept SFP fibers, but at a reduced speed of 1Gbps. However, please note that you cannot insert an SFP+ transceiver into an SFP port, as SFP+ does not support speeds lower than 1Gbps. SFP+ modules have become the most popular 10 Gigabit Ethernet modules on the market.
The 1310nm and 1550nm bands are mostly used for medium and long-distance transmission. The 1310nm (SM, single-mode, with high transmission loss but low dispersion, generally used for transmission within 40km) and 1550nm (SM, single-mode, with low transmission loss but high dispersion, generally used for long-distance transmission over 40km, with a maximum direct transmission distance of 120km without relaying) bands are used.
The maximum transmission distance of SFP fiber depends on the type of SFP module and the quality of the fiber optic cable. However, in general, the maximum transmission distance of SFP fiber ranges from a few meters to over 100 kilometers. SFP fiber can be implemented using different types of SFP modules, such as SX, LX, and ZX, which are designed for different transmission distances and specifications. When determining the maximum transmission distance for a specific setup, always refer to the specific specifications of the SFP module and fiber optic cable used.
YXFIber's YXF-FE-S55L-80D is a high performance, cost effective modules, which is supporting up to 155Mbps, and transmission distance up to 80km on SM fiber. The transceiver consists of two sections: The transmitter section incorporates a laser driver and a 1550nm DFB laser. The receiver section consists of a PIN photodiode integrated with a transimpedance preamplifier (TIA) and a Limitting Amplifier. The module is hot pluggable into the 20-pin connector. The high-speed electrical interface is base on low voltage logic, with nominal 100Ohms differential impedance and AC coupled in the module.
The optical output can be disabled by LVTTL logic high-level input of TX_DIS. Transmit Fault (Tx_Fault) is provided to indicate that the module transmitter has detected a fault condition related to laser operation or safety. Loss of signal (RX_LOS) output is provided to indicate the loss of an input optical signal of receiver. A serial EEPROM in the transceiver allows the user to access transceiver monitoring and configuration data via the 2-wire SFP Management Interface. This interface uses a single address, A0h, with a memory map divided into a lower and upper area. Basic digital diagnostic (DD) data is held in the lower area while specific data is held in a series of tables in the high memory area.
Q1:I bought a 100BASE Cisco compatible module and if i can change the code to Intel compatible with YXFiber BOX?
Of course, you can use it to achieve.
Q2:The datasheet of our switch shows 1510nm, but the tech data of this module mentions 1550 nm, are they compatible?
I think you can use, but you need to make sure that the wavelengths of the modules connected at both ends are the same. Module wavelength is actually a range value, and wavelength generally does not affect the use of the module in the switch.
Q3:Is this 100Mbps module backward compatible with 10Mbps?
Yes, it is supported.
Q4:Which fibre optical cable should I use with this transceiver?
The Simplex OS2 Single Mode fibre patch cable is recommended.
Q5:What is a 10/100/1000basetx SFP?
It is a multi-speed 10/100/1000Base-TX copper interface Gigabit Ethernet SFP copper transceiver with a transmission distance of up to 100 meters on Cat5e/6 cable.
Q6:What is the maximum range of SFP?
Typically, multimode SFPs can reach about 550 meters, single-mode SFPs can reach 10 kilometers, 40 kilometers, or even longer than 120 kilometers, and copper cable SFPs can reach 100 meters.
