 200G InfiniBand HDR Cables And Optical Modules: Bringing New Breakthroughs To High-Speed Network Applications

        As one of the fastest growing high-speed interconnection network technologies, InfiniBand has the characteristics of high bandwidth, low latency and easy expansion.

        According to different data transmission rates, it can be divided into SDR (10G), DDR (25G), QDR (40G), FDR (56G), EDR (100G), HDR (200G) and NDR (400G), etc.

        Among them, 200G InfiniBand HDR cables and optical modules, as the current mainstream interconnect products, have attracted much attention due to their excellent transmission speed and low latency.

        200G HDR cable

        200G HDR cables are all packaged in QSFP56, which not only has high-speed transmission capabilities, but also has an optimized structure to minimize insertion loss and crosstalk. According to the transmission medium, it can be divided into 200G HDR DAC passive copper cable and AOC active optical cable.

The 200G HDR DAC passive copper cable is a component of a 4-channel full-duplex passive copper cable. It uses 50G PAM4 modulation method to provide an extremely low-cost HDR link. According to the structure, it can be divided into two modes: direct connection (200G HDR to 200G HDR) and branch connection (200G HDR to 2×HDR100), which provide short-distance and energy-efficient connections (generally within 3m).

200G HDR AOC active optical cable is a QSFP56 VCSEL-based cable with the same structural configuration as the DAC passive copper cable (200G HDR to 200G HDR and 200G HDR to 2×HDR100), but is lighter, more flexible, and supports higher density, and has a longer coverage than DAC (generally within 100m).

200G HDR optical module

         The 200G HDR optical module adopts QSFP56 packaging mode and includes 200G HDR SR4 optical module and 200G HDR FR4 optical module according to the transmission distance.

The 200G HDR SR4 optical module runs on 4-channel parallel multi-mode fiber MMF, using MPO/MTP-12 optical interface, and is used with multi-mode fiber (MMF) for short-distance transmission. With OM3 multi-mode fiber, the transmission distance can reach up to 70m. The transmission distance of OM4 or OM5 multi-mode optical fiber can reach up to 100m.The 200G HDR FR4 optical module is based on the 4-channel 50G PAM4 technical solution and adopts the LC-DX optical interface, with a single-mode fiber SMF transmission distance of up to 2km.
