1. What is an 800G Optical Module?

800G optical modules perform optical-to-electrical conversion. They enable data transmission rates of 800G per second over optical fibers. 800G optical modules support IEEE 802.3cK and QSFP-DD 800MSA standards, as well as the CMIS 4.0 interface protocol. 800G optical modules are available in QSFP-DD, OSFP, and QSFP112 form factors. QSFP-DD stands for "Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable - Double Density." Compared to QSFP optical modules, QSFP-DD modules support double the number of high-speed electrical interfaces: four high-speed interfaces compared to eight. Each QSFP-DD port operates at 100Gb/s, providing a total bandwidth of 800Gb/s. OSFP stands for "Octal Small Form Factor Pluggable," with the "octal" designation referring to its eight electrical lanes. Each port operates at 100Gb/s, providing a total bandwidth of 800Gb/s. The 800G QSFP112 is a module and connector system based on the current OSFP, designed to support 8x lanes of 112Gb/s, achieving 800G bandwidth per port. 800G optical modules have built-in digital diagnostics and meet EM1 and ESD requirements.

2. What are the available 800G optical module models?

800G SR8, 800G DR8, 800G 2FR4, 800G 2LR4, 800G PLR8. 800G SR8 has a maximum transmission distance of 50 meters, uses MTP/MPO-16 connectors, and has a wavelength of 850m. 800G DR8 has a maximum transmission distance of 500 meters, uses MTP/MPO-16 APC connectors, and has a wavelength of 1310nm. 800G 2FR4 has a maximum transmission distance of 2km, uses dual LC connectors, and has a wavelength of 1310nm. 800G 2LR4 has a maximum transmission distance of 10km, uses dual LC connectors, and has a wavelength of 1310nm. 800G PLR8 has a maximum transmission distance of 10km, uses MTP/MPO-16 APC connectors, and has a wavelength of 1310nm.

3. What are the application scenarios of 800G optical modules?

3.1 Data Center

Data centers are important places for storing, processing, and managing large amounts of information, and cloud computing is one of the main applications. Cloud computing achieves efficient data processing and management by concentrating massive computing and storage resources in data centers. The high transmission rates of 800G optical modules meet the data center's demand for high bandwidth and low latency, enabling rapid data transmission and processing. Furthermore, 800G optical modules are widely used in network communications. Network communications are a crucial means of information transmission in modern society. With the development of digitalization, intelligence, and the Internet of Things, the demand for network transmission speeds is increasing. The high-speed transmission capabilities of 800G optical modules can meet the bandwidth requirements of high-speed broadband, high-definition video, online gaming, and other applications, providing more stable and faster network connections.

3.2 Metropolitan Area Networks

Metropolitan area networks (MANs) bridge local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across different locations, enabling high-speed data transmission between locations through optical fiber networks. The high transmission rates of 800G optical modules provide higher bandwidth and more stable connections, meeting the MAN's demand for high-speed networks and promoting urban informatization and economic development.

3.3 5G Communications

With the gradual adoption of 5G technology, the requirements for network transmission speed and latency are becoming even higher. The high transmission rate and low latency of 800G optical modules can provide reliable network connections and support 5G communication application scenarios such as smart transportation, smart manufacturing, and smart cities.

Summary

As a high-speed optical transmission technology, YXFiber 800G optical modules are widely used in data centers, cloud computing, network communications, metropolitan area networks, and 5G communications. Their high transmission rate and low latency meet the modern demand for high-bandwidth and fast data transmission, providing a faster, more stable, and more reliable connection method for data transmission. With further technological innovation and breakthroughs, we believe that 800G optical modules will play an even more important role in future network development.
